All Our Born Days The Daydream Club

ALL OUR BORN DAYS

Released: 24th September 2021

Format: Album

All Our Born Days is the seventh album release from The Daydream Club in 11 years. Made a decade after forming,  All Our Born Days draws upon the lifespan of the band to date. Having formed in 2010 a lot has happened in global and personal events. Lyrically Adam & Paula explore what they have witnessed and experienced, the good and the bad. Musically it's a culmination of all of the duos sounds over the years coming together in one album, combining influences from alternative, ambient, electronic, folk, classical crossover, soul, dub and trip-hop.

As with all of The Daydream Club’s releases they have personally created every aspect of the album from writing, recording, producing, mixing and mastering to the artwork, photos and music videos… there’s no big team between audience and artist, just two people creating art.

The Daydream Club - Ambient Project Sound Asleep

AMBIENT PROJECT // SOUND ASLEEP

Released: 15th May 2017

Format: Album

The Daydream Club are a band that make a habit of re-inventing themselves. Never afraid to explore new sounds, their latest release Ambient Project // Sound Asleep is no exception. With this album we see the duo step away from the limitations of a traditional "band" setup and embrace the freedoms reserved for the likes of cinematic composers.

The inspiration for the project is born from the duo reflecting on world affairs, climate change, equality, human rights and asking themselves the difficult question; with the world in its current state, would I be happy to pass it on to my children?

The album features a tasteful blend of the duos multi-instrumental textures and their trademark boy/girl harmonies but not as we know them... all of the vocals have been intentionally reversed aiming to create a universal, other-worldly language without barriers or distractions.

If you would rather not delve too deeply into the meanings behind the album and just want to enjoy the music, then the vast cinematic / ambient soundscapes and musicianship is more than enough to keep you captivated and send you off into a mind wander to top all mind wanders.

Lux by The Daydream Club

LUX

Released: 25th July 2016

Format: Album

If you're new to The Daydream Club then Lux is a good place to start learning what they're all about. If you're already a fan then you're in for a treat. The husband and wife multi-genre duo (aka Adam & Paula) cover a lot of musical ground in this deluxe double album.

The first half features the original take of the songs with a mostly indie-folk angle and the second half sees the duo pulling their usual trick of remixing themselves to flip the songs on their head into more of an alternative, electronic, beats orientation.

Throughout, you can expect The Daydream Clubs trademark boy/girl vocals on top of a bed of lush, instrumental layers and subtleties reserved for those who wish to dig a little deeper into headphone territory.

Piano Project The Daydream Club

PIANO PROJECT

Released: 11th September 2016

Format: Album

The Piano Project brainchild of The Daydream Club is an immersive offering that brings the audience into the heart of the creative process as it happens. The entire 10 track album was written, recorded and filmed in just 3 hours, all at the hands of the real life couple Adam & Paula.

The idea for an instrumental piano release stemmed from impromptu improvisations that Adam has been known to do at gigs with the luxury of a real piano present. The band have taken that idea a step further, recording every track on the album as they were conceived, truly capturing a passing moment in time. To document this process it was all filmed live, offering an extra dimension to the music and creating an incredibly intimate, honest and unique audience experience.

Includes the popular track Improv #10 - One Last Thought.

Overgrown The Daydream Club

OVERGROWN

Released: 1st November 2010

Format: Album

The premise behind Overgrown was to strip everything right back to the bare bones of a song aiming to highlight the arrangement that remains. It was this idea that led to the intimate acoustic affair that is The Daydream Clubs debut release.

This album laid the humble, honest foundations that the band have built a loyal following from and a reputation for quality. This is where the journey started for Adam & Paula, with one goal, to make music together that they are proud of... to this day that remains their goal with everything they release.

We Begin The Daydream Club

WE BEGIN

Released: 3rd June 2022

Format: Single

“We were thinking about how we all begin life before any situational elements take effect. We’re innocent, unencumbered, optimistic, open minded and exploratory… in those first moments we are arguably the most free we will ever be, we wanted to create something that feels like that.”

We Begin is the first single from what will become The Daydream Club’s second ambient album, diving deeper into the duo’s vast influences and combining their love of music and dance. They first met as performers in a multi-arts project, with We Begin, they invite us into this part of their history. Following the initial titles the video is a single sequence shot, with Adam behind the camera and Paula dancing, both moving freely and instinctively responding to each other to capture an unrehearsed, honest interpretation.

We Begin is the third single for the duo’s Song Stream concept which aims to create multiple albums across various genres simultaneously. The Daydream Club have previously explored the boundaries of ambient music with the album Ambient Project // Sound Asleep and the tracks Home from Home (Remix) and From the Summit.

Two Player Games The Daydream Club

TWO PLAYER GAMES

Released: 29th April 2022

Format: Single

Over the years The Daydream Club have created a large collection of music that might be considered serious music with a complexity of layers and the duo recently realised this. As much as Adam and Paula have aimed to achieve this they also consider themselves as people to be goofy and rough around the edges. Two Player Games is intended to reflect that side of their personalities. With it’s super lo-fi acoustic tone (as if you were in the room during the recording), simple arrangement and it’s witty lyrics noting how the mundane elements of life are improved when shared with someone special, this song hits a very relatable note at the heart of The Daydream Club.

“We can make the most of offers on buy one get one free”.

The accompanying video doesn't take itself too seriously either. Featuring Adam and his real life childhood friend Nathan battling it out at ping pong dressed like 80's tennis rejects.

This is the second single to feature on the duos new Song Stream project. Rather than working on an entire album they are releasing songs as they write/record them. For more about Song Stream click here

This Will Be Our Year The Daydream Club

THIS WILL BE OUR YEAR

Released: 18th February 2020

Format: Single

[As featured on AIB Mortgages Advert]

This Will Be Our Year marks the launch of the new ongoing concept project Song Stream by The Daydream Club.

Rather than spending a year writing an album and then building to release, they plan to release a steady stream of songs as they write/record them. This allows them to work more fluidly, working on multiple albums simultaneously with the potential for each single to be completely different from the last.

Here the duo have given the classic Zombies track a twist of their own, completely re-inventing it to have a more punchy, instant and modern sound with a healthy helping of positive vibes in the mix. It will become part of a future album called Got It Covered.

"Takes a classic and makes it even better" Indie Shuffle

Moving forward the band want to take the concept a step further. Have you ever wanted a personalised song? In an attempt to create more of a community The Daydream Club would like to make that happen. They're encouraging fans to submit stories from their lives and Adam and Paula will pick out any that inspires them to write a song which will be released as part of Song Stream.

You've got It Wrong The Daydream Club

YOU'VE GOT IT WRONG

Released: 23rd July 2021

Format: Single

You've Got It Wrong is the second in a series of singles for the album titled All Our Born Days. This song is the polar opposite of the positive vibes from Ocean & the Moon, written several years ago after The Daydream Club experienced front line displays of toxic human behaviour and it left them feeling vulnerable and enraged.

Being level headed people they decided to move past it and shelved the song but over the years to follow it seemed relevant to so many events occurring around the world and so it was time to release it. The music features an air of restrained power and tension with bursts of mass harmonies, trembling high tones and a steady electric guitar laying down the anchor.

OCEAN & THE MOON

Released: 2nd July 2021

Format: Single

Ocean & the Moon is the first in a series of singles for an album release titled All Our Born Days. During the trying times for everyone around the world, one positive that comes out of the chaos is the spotlight it shines on the people you care about and who you couldn’t imagine living without.

The duo wrote the heartwarming song as an open love letter to each other, “You were meant to be my home, Like a force that can’t be known, Like the ocean & the moon, I’m connected to you.” The sound blends dream-like ambient atmospherics with a summery groove and lush harmonies throughout.

PIANO PROJECT // DUETS // HEAVY HEARTED

Released: 7th February 2020

Format: Single

Heavy Hearted (For 2 Pianos) is the second single for the duo's latest Piano Project focusing solely on piano duets.

We've all experienced break-ups or a deep sadness that's all consuming. In those moments you want to hear music that expresses the true depth of your sadness while you look distantly out of the window at the rain... Heavy Hearted is that soundtrack. The anti-Valentines anthem maybe or just something to help you work through the emotions in the knowledge that you are not the only person to have felt like this and you won't be the last.

In Heavy HeartedThe Daydream Club have also created something for musicians to enjoy playing together. However, if you've no musical mates you can still enjoy performing the duet by playing alongside the band using accompanying tracks; Heavy Hearted (Piano A) & (Piano B). Wolf Winter The Daydream Club

PIANO PROJECT // DUETS // WOLF WINTER

Released: 15th November 2019

Format: Single

Wolf Winter is a hypnotic and intricate duet for 2 pianos. The intentionally interwoven melodies make it hard to know where one part begins and the other ends.

Back in 2005, in an isolated, internet-less house in the Swedish countryside, Adam was experiencing what locals were calling the Wolf Winter - the worst winter they had seen in decades. "It was incredibly lonely. Paula was miles away in England and we couldn't just video call like you would today. We've never felt more separate from each other. In stark contrast to that, our lives now are so intertwined that it's hard to imagine one without the other. That's what we've aimed to capture in the piano duet. It's the closeness we were both longing for during that cold winter apart."

In Wolf WinterThe Daydream Club have also created something for musicians to enjoy playing together. However, if you've no musical mates or you find yourself in a similar position to Adam (isolated and snowed-in), you can still enjoy performing the duet by playing alongside the band using accompanying tracks; Wolf Winter (Piano A) & (Piano B). You can find the live style video on YouTube as a guide and the sheet music is available for both piano parts.

Piano Project - I Miss Your Wonderful face The Daydream Club

PIANO PROJECT // I MISS YOUR WONDERFUL FACE

Released: 2nd July 2018

Format: Single

Piano Project // I Miss Your Wonderful Face is the last in a series of singles from The Daydream Club which were created live in concert with music fans. This track is a little different to its predecessors, it was an improvisation inspired by the duos own memories. Some years ago they were living in separate countries and struggling with the long distance relationship thing... this was in the days when mobile phones had one simple function and they didn't always do that well.

Struck with a desire to share their passion and to make more meaningful connections with fans of their music, Adam and Paula hosted a series of live-streamed performances, inviting audience members worldwide to submit their own thoughts, feelings and memories, which they would turn into spontaneous piano improvisations.

Throughout 2018 the duo released a series of singles created from these live improvisations. The singles form part of an album entitled Piano Project // With You In Mind.

Format: Single

The Daydream Club’s Adam Pickering surprised his musical soulmate Paula Walker by asking her to marry him during the video shoot for their single Saltwater

I had the perfect musical backdrop, meaningful setting and even sparklers… After initial confusion from Paula she eventually realised it was a genuine moment and thankfully said yes.”

Adam & Paula say that Saltwater is about "finding your soul-mate, the person you fit so perfectly with that you move together through life as one fluid entity... You are salt and I the water, and now we are the ocean, we move in fluid motion”

Never content with just one version of their music the Saltwater single is backed with a self produced remix, which effortlessly re-imagines the track as a dirty-phat-electronic-euphoric-fist-pump!

Of lovers old and love that died

But I've been told a story of...

A love thats lived a thousand lives

Just be gentle, Just be Kind

Just be the hero of my mind

Over the hills and far away

Be with me 'till night turns to day

Then we'll start it all again

Say your words and I'll say mine

Tell me we'll stand the test of time

We'll drink our tears for those not here

And hand in hand we'll pass the years

I prefer the ending how

The boy gets the girl and lives life out

No need for symbols and no need for words

With wings like these we'll fly with the birds
